Don, a sideline beekeeper and former GE engineer, has spent years applying industrial precision to his hives. As a lead admin for the renowned "Beekeeping Hacks" Facebook group, he is a celebrated innovator in the community, known for turning "standard" gear into high-performance equipment. Located in the heart of Ballardsville, KY, this farm is a masterclass in apiary efficiency. The event will feature guided and self-guided tours, including the apiary, hacks, swarm catching and greenhouse options. One tour, The "Hacker’s" Toolkit, is a hands-on look at Don’s signature modifications including slatted racks, modified bee boxes, high-efficiency syrup feeding rigs and starter-strip frames. The apiary tour showcases built-in efficiency workflows that reduce labor and maximize hive health. As an avid swarm catcher, Don gathers over a dozen swarms outside of his apiary every year, and will share how he uses those resources. The property also includes several walking trails and pollinator resources.
