Joshua Scott is an electrical engineer and beekeeper from Oldham County, Kentucky, with five years of hands-on experience managing colonies and catching swarms throughout the region. What began as a backyard curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and today Josh brings an analytical, engineering-minded approach to understanding honey bee behavior and refining swarm-catching techniques. He manages approximately 25 colonies, operating his entire apiary using exclusively single-brood management, a system that supports efficiency, consistency, and strong, productive hives.
Josh is currently enrolled in the University of Florida’s Master Beekeeper Program, where he continues to deepen his knowledge of honey bee biology and advanced colony management. He also runs the educational YouTube channel Bees in the Weeds, where he shares practical, real-world demonstrations to help beekeepers at any level build confidence and improve their skills.
