About Christopher Ross & Apis Rescue
Christopher Ross, President, Researcher, and Director of Apis Rescue, is a third-generation beekeeper from Southern Appalachia. He launched his own apiary in 2013 after relocating hives to his home outside Louisville, which is now over 70 strong. He manages his apiary with the focus on sustainability, survivability, and the optimization of honey bee genetics, with the goal of utilizing local feral honey bee stock to improve survivability of managed bees. He launched Apis Rescue, with the help of the Swarm Team Board members, in 2022 to provide an organizational structure that the research, education, and swarm team maintenance can be focused. With his background in biology he set out to begin morphological and DNA analysis of swarms caught by the swarm team. He also provides educational classes on beekeeping and honey bee research.
